Plaza language: Corporate decay or fast communication?
Jargon sometimes saves time, but more often it hides meaning.
Plaza language, the jargon of corporate office life, gives people who do the same work a shortcut. The problem is that once this shortcut travels outside the organization, it destroys meaning.
The test for jargon in communications is simple: what does someone outside the industry understand when they read the sentence? If they don’t understand it, the sentence isn’t working for the brand.
Simplifying corporate texts doesn’t mean sacrificing seriousness. On the contrary, an organization that speaks clearly is perceived as more trustworthy.
This is where a brand tone-of-voice guide comes in: it sets out in writing which terms will be used and which will be rendered in Turkish.
