Awards communications: why does the same project get two different results from two entries?

Juries often know a project only through its entry. How the objective, evidence and results are distilled into a few hundred words shapes the outcome as much as the project itself.

What is awards communications?

Awards communications is the process of selecting the awards programs and categories that fit an organization’s projects, preparing entries built around objectives, execution and measurable results, and announcing wins in the media, on digital channels and internally.

Brandworks’ award history

Brandworks’ awards by year: Brandverse Awards and PR Felis in 2022; Brandverse Awards in 2025 (Geberit and İTÜ Arı Teknokent); Brandverse Awards Gold (Bambi Yatak) and Yıldız İş Dünyası Ödülleri “Best Communications Agency of the Year” in 2026.

How does a juror read an entry?

Jurors review a large number of entries in a short time. That is why the first paragraph of an entry must state clearly what problem the project set out to solve and what changed as a result.

The most common problem we see in entries is a results section that simply lists activities: how many press releases were sent, how many events were held. What the jury wants to see is what those activities changed against the objective. If there is no measurable objective, that gap should be addressed before the entry is written.

The four sections of an award entry

  1. Challenge and objective

Why the project was needed and how success was defined in advance.

  2. Insight and idea

What was known about the target audience and how the idea grew out of it.

  3. Execution

Channels, timeline, budget scale and challenges faced.

  4. Results

Change measured against the objective, with sourced data and third-party validation.

The awards timeline

  1. Awards map

Programs and categories that fit the organization’s projects are listed with their entry deadlines.

  2. Project selection

Projects with measurable results are identified and data is gathered.

  3. Entry writing

Copy, supporting visuals and a video summary are prepared.

  4. Submission

Category rules, word limits and documents are checked one last time.

  5. Announcement

A press release, social media posts, an internal announcement and content for sales teams are prepared.

Awards Communications: frequently asked questions

How do you decide which awards program to enter?

The nature of the project, the program’s standing in the industry, the jury composition, category fit and entry cost are weighed together. Rather than sending every project to every program, we select the categories with the highest chance of winning.

What is the most important section of an award entry?

The results section. Juries want to see less a list of activities and more what those activities changed against the objective set at the outset, so having a measurable objective is decisive.

How should you make the most of an award win?

Beyond a press release and social media, a win can be used in sales presentations, proposals, recruitment content and internal announcements. Rules for using the award logo should be checked against the program’s guidelines.

What awards has Brandworks won?

Brandworks won Gold at the 2026 Brandverse Awards for its Bambi Yatak project and “Best Communications Agency of the Year” at the 2026 Yıldız İş Dünyası Ödülleri; Brandverse Awards in 2025 for its Geberit and İTÜ Arı Teknokent projects; and awards at the Brandverse Awards and PR Felis in 2022.

How far in advance should an award entry be prepared?

To allow time for data collection and approvals, we recommend starting at least four to six weeks before the entry deadline.
